Italy has always been an icon in the world of fashion and Florence has seen the blooming of a large number of world renowned fashion designers such as Gucci, Roberto Cavalli, Patrizia Pepe, Emilio Pucci, Ermanno Scervino and many more. Some say that Florence is the birthplace and earliest center of the modern fashion industry in Italy. Among important fashion events going on year round in the city, Pitti Immagine is one of the most abundant in events and innovation. Pitti Uomo 88 that will take place between June 16 and June 19 is the world’s most important platform for men’s clothing and accessory collections and for launching new projects in men’s fashion. The exhibition’s schedule will be every day between 9 am and 6 pm or 4 pm on the last day. Present as a menswear guest designer will be Moschino, the apparition being the brand’s first runway show featuring men’s fashion in Italy since Jeremy Scott took over as creative director.
His work is seen by Raffaello Napoleone, CEO of Pitti Immagine as being original and luxurious having a touch of humor, the irreverence and the tendency to explode myths. Also a guest designer at Pitti Uomo 88, but this time for womenswear, is Thomas Tait, the London-based Canadian fashion designer, who at only twenty seven years old is never afraid to experiment and push the boundaries even further than thought to be possible. He has been granted the opportunity to express his creativity in Florence through a project called “reflections on his work”. Another debut at the event will be that of Anglo-Italian designer and creative director Kilgour, Carlo Brandelli who will be the Pitti Uomo 88 Designer Project. Still in June but between June 25 and June 27 will take place Pitti Bimbo 81, an overview on children’s fashion and a great platform for presenting the new lifestyles trends for kids. Pitti Immagine is an exquisite fashion fair that everyone should experience and most of all feel in order to get those intense fashion shivers.
