In the works of Angela Caputi nothing is left to chance. In her industrious Florentine workshop, where Angela Caputi Giuggiù collections have come to life since 1975, everything is defined right down to the tiniest detail: the careful design of each piece, how shapes are mixed and matched and of course how colours are paired. Angela’s bijoux are meticulously hand crafted using an Italian synthetic resin which mimics natural materials such as ivory, onyx, turquoise, tortoise shell, coral and amber.
What makes her creations stand out is how the rigorous geometric shapes of her jewels are somewhat softened by the use of bright colours. These have a decisive role in making the most of the visual rythm of each jewel, which becomes a dynamic sequence of vibrant shapes. This is particularly clear in her impressive necklaces made of twisted wires dotted with seahorses and starfish, in her vivid bangles loaded with tiny crabs or exotic elephants, and in her whimsical earrings dripping with red corals, lucky horns and delicate leaves.

The accurate craftmanship and the original designs add new value to the plastic material, but they also make each jewel a unique item, where every single combination of shapes and of colours aims to build a dialogue with women, between women. Such a jewel goes beyond the mere function of embellishing and becomes a communication tool, one that plays a role in the life of the person who wears it.
Because of these reasons, Angela Caputi jewels are present in the most prestigious jewelry museums of the world. In 2005, they earned themselves a prominent place in the Rara Avis Exhibition that Metropolitan Museum of New York dedicated to the collection of Iris Barrel Apfel.

In recent years they have also been included in the permanent collections of both the Silver Artifacts Museum and the Palazzo Pitti Costume Museum in Florence. The highly distinctive design of these jewels makes them particularly sought after by TV and Film Costume Designers, as they perfectly complement many stage dresses. An eccentric yet refined Jewel Designer, Angela Caputi attracted international attention not only for her creativity, but mainly for her strong will and for her ability to translate the values of our jewelery tradition into artifacts that promote Italian culture of elegance throughout the world.

Nelle opere di Angela Caputi nessun particolare è lasciato al caso. Il disegno accurato dei pezzi, l’accostamento delle forme, la scelta dei colori, tutto viene studiato nei minimi dettagli nell’operoso laboratorio fiorentino, attivo dal 1975, dove nascono le collezioni con il marchio Angela Caputi Giuggiù. I bijoux sono realizzati in resina sintetica italiana, assemblata meticolosamente a mano, che in alcuni casi ricorda materiali naturali come l’avorio, l’onice, il turchese, il guscio di tartaruga, il corallo o l’ambra.

Il carattere distintivo delle creazioni è costituito da rigorose forme geometriche attenuate, nella loro austerità, da vivaci colori che contribuiscono in maniera determinante all’esaltazione ritmica e dinamica dell’oggetto nello spazio. Questo è evidente nelle imponenti collane, formate da fili intrecciati e intervallati da cavallucci o da stelle marine, nei coloratissimi bangle, da cui ciondolano piccoli granchi o esotici elefantini, negli estrosi orecchini, da cui pendono coralli rossi, cornetti o delicate foglioline. La lavorazione accurata e il design originale conferiscono al materiale plastico nuovo valore e rendono i bijoux oggetti unici in cui ogni forma, ogni accostamento, rivela il desiderio di costruire un dialogo con le donne, tra le donne. Il gioiello, così inteso, supera l’idea stessa del monile fatto per ornare e diventa uno strumento di comunicazione che entra in contatto diretto con la vita della persona a cui appartiene.

Per tali caratteristiche, i bijoux di Angela Caputi sono presenti nei Musei più prestigiosi del mondo: nel 2005 hanno meritato un posto di rilievo nell’esposizione “Rara Avis” che il Metropolitan Museum di New York ha dedicato alla collezione di Iris Barrel Apfel e negli ultimi anni sono stati inseriti nelle raccolte del Museo degli Argenti e del Museo del Costume di Palazzo Pitti a Firenze. Il design fortemente caratterizzante, inoltre, rende i bijoux particolarmente ricercati dai costumisti della Televisione e del Cinema come complementi per abiti e costumi di scena.
