Caran d’Ache, in collaboration with Lory store from Piazza Frescobaldi and the literary Caffè Le Giubbe Rosse from Piazza della Repubblica announces the second graphic competition which is reserved to artists who are residents in Italy and with a selection of 100 participants.

The theme of the competition

“Firenze, May 14th 1865”

Caran d’Anche celebrates a hundred years of activity and wants to pay a tribute to the city of Florence with a competition dedicated to artists, who are invited to rework in a modern way, the vision and the significance of that day with Caran D’Anche products. May 14th 1865 also marks the celebration of Dante, “the most Italian of any Italian that has ever been” (Cesare Balbo). All participants can choose a set of pencils from 3 different products that will be provided for free: Museum, Luminance and Pastel Pencil. Each participant must carry out his drawing with the selected product on a canvas or drawing paper of measures 70 x 50 cm. The set can be picked up at the Lory store (Piazza Frescobaldi 8 / r) after the registration has been done, by February 28, 2015. All works must be delivered at the Lory store by 15 April 2015. The works, selected by a committee made up of representatives with proven artistic experience, will be exhibited at the Giubbe Rosse some days after the announcement of the winners. The winner will be entitled to a trip for 2 people in Geneva and a tour of the Caran d’Ache factory. The awarding ceremony will take place on May 14th, 2015 at the literary café Le Giubbe Rosse, on the anniversary of 150 years of Florence as capital of Italy.

Il Tema del Concorso

“Firenze, 14 maggio 1865”

Caran d’Ache celebra i suoi cento anni di attività e vuole rendere omaggio alla città di Firenze con un concorso rivolto agli artisti, invitati a rielaborare in chiave moderna il significato e la visione di quel giorno con i prodotti Caran d’Ache. Il 14 maggio 1865 viene anche celebrata la figura di Dante, “l’italiano più italiano che sia mai stato” (Cesare Balbo). Tutti i partecipanti potranno scegliere 1 kit di matite fra 3 prodotti diversi, che verrà fornito gratuitamente: Museum, Luminance e Pastel Pencil. Ogni partecipante dovrà realizzare il suo disegno con il prodotto prescelto su tela o su foglio da disegno della misura 70 x 50 cm. Il kit potrà essere ritirato presso il negozio Lory (Piazza Frescobaldi 8/r) contestualmente all’avvenuta iscrizione, entro il 28 febbraio 2015. Tutti i lavori dovranno essere consegnati presso il negozio Lory entro il 15 aprile 2015. I lavori selezionati da una commissione costituita da rappresentanti di comprovata esperienza artistica, verranno esposti presso le Giubbe Rosse nei giorni precedenti la proclamazione dei vincitori. Per il vincitore un viaggio per 2 persone a Ginevra e visita da Caran d’Ache.

La premiazione avverrà il 14 maggio 2015 presso il caffé letterario Le Giubbe Rosse, in occasione dell’anniversario dei 150 anni di Firenze Capitale d’Italia.
