My ten years in China to promote our Art

Since 2004 I regularly travel to China several times a year to organize exhibitions and participate in art fairs. Ever since my first trip I was fascinated and still am after more than ten years, being surprised by its ongoing growth: skyscrapers, highways, high speed trains, subways, train stations and large airports… and vast museums, always new and amazing, entire neighborhoods dedicated to art, with modern galleries, artists of great talent and originality. No matter if it’s traditional or modern, art is always at the highest level here. China is a country that invests and supports art and culture and it’s an instrument of communication and growth.

My challenge was to bring in the “middle country” the Italian art, but most of all the art of Tuscany and to make known the value of our artists who, living in a country as artistic as ours have always had a more subtle and refined vision and a relationship with art. This is a well-recognized fact. I have always been very welcomed here in a generous and friendly way as an Italian and most of all as a Florentine art dealer. Florence is a magic word in China, as well as around the world, a word that opens doors and is instantly recognized as a synonym for art and beauty.

They have offered and proposed for me to set exhibitions in prestigious places, in different Chinese cities (as of today I have set up more than 30) and for long or short periods of time I have had exhibitions set in the beautiful galleries of Shanghai.

The exhibition space that I share now with many other Chinese colleagues is at least amazing. It’s located in a beautiful and large complex where a museum, theater, cinema, a five star hotel, restaurants and retail spaces coexist, all in the name of art and creativity. This is the famous Himalayas Zendai Center, designed and engineered by the great Japanese architect Arata Isozaki.

At the moment I have set a beautiful exhibition, held together with the Amalart group, in a great hall of the Italian Padiglione of Shanghai Expo 2010, that has been inaugurated last November and that will continue until March 30. Thank you China!

È dal 2004 che regolarmente, più volte l’anno, vado in Cina per organizzare mostre e partecipare a fiere d’arte. Fin dal primo viaggio ne son rimasta affascinata e ancora oggi, dopo oltre dieci anni, ogni volta mi sorprende per la sua crescita vorticosa: grattacieli, autostrade, treni alta velocità, metropolitane, stazioni e aeroporti immensi….e grandi musei, sempre nuovi meravigliosi musei, interi quartieri dedicati all’arte, con gallerie modernissime, artisti di grande talento e originalità. Che sia tradizionale o contemporanea, è sempre arte di alto livello. La Cina è un paese che investe e sostiene l’arte e la cultura e ne fa strumento di comunicazione e di crescita. La mia sfida è stata di portare nel “paese di mezzo” l’arte italiana, ma più particolarmente della Toscana, e far conoscere il valore dei nostri artisti che, vivendo in un paese ad alto tasso artistico come il nostro, hanno pur sempre una visione e un rapporto con l’arte forse più sottile e raffinato. E questo ci viene sostanzialmente riconosciuto. Ho avuto sempre un’accoglienza straordinariamente generosa e amichevole, come italiana e maggiormente come gallerista fiorentina. Firenze è una parola magica che in Cina, e comunque nel mondo, apre le porte ed è immediatamente riconosciuta come sinonimo di arte e bellezza. Mi hanno proposto e richiesto di far mostre in luoghi di prestigio in diverse città cinesi (ad oggi ne ho allestite più di 30) ed ho avuto per periodi più o meno lunghi delle belle gallerie a Shanghai. Lo spazio espositivo che condivido attualmente con altri colleghi cinesi è, a dir poco, strepitoso. Si trova in uno splendido e grande complesso in cui coesistono museo, teatro, cinema, hotel cinque stelle, ristoranti e spazi commerciali, tutto all’insegna dell’arte e della creatività. È il famoso Himalayas Zendai Center, disegnato e progettato dal grande architetto giapponese Arata Isozaki. Inoltre, ho in essere un’altra bella mostra, allestita insieme al gruppo Amalart, in una grande sala del Padiglione Italiano di Shanghai Expo 2010,  inaugurata lo scorso novembre e che si protrarrà fino al 30 marzo.
