Paola Pivi at Palazzo Strozzi Unprecedented dialogue with the architecture of the Renaissance
Until February 28th 2016, the famous Italian contemporary artist Paola Pivi invades Palazzo Strozzi with the monumental installation Untitled (Project for Etchigo-Tsumari), a colorful inflatable scale over 20 meters high that takes to the extreme the confrontation between ancient and contemporary in the Renaissance courtyard of the palace. A paradoxical “magic realism” in which Paola Pivi can alter our perception of the ordinary reality, and with this purpose the common elements of the artist’s work are objects, animals or people, which through a change of context and an unusual placement, lose their original meaning and guide towards a strange and extravagant world. The piece Untitled Project was commissioned and produced by the Echigo-Tsumari Triennial in Japan.
