Premio Giornalistico Nazionale Amerigo For the past seven years, the Association Amerigo has been rewarding reporters that recount America to Italians strengthening the bond between the Italian and American cultures
In Florence, in the Library Hall of the Hotel L’Orologio, in Piazza Santa Maria Novella, in the presence of the Deputy Chief of Mission U.S. Embassy, Kelly Degnan, and the U.S. Consul General in Florence, Abigail M. Rupp, the acknowledgments for the seventh edition of the journalism prize “Amerigo” were appointed, promoted by the same association and meant to distinguish those journalists who, “with an attentive eye also to the emergencies of the global context, recount America to Italians thus helping to improve the knowledge about American society and culture in our country”. The National Association Amerigo gathers those who had the opportunity to participate over time in cultural exchanges promoted by the State Department of the U.S. Government, and as representatives of the Association have been in the presence of the National Vice President Gianluigi Traettino, representing the President Vito Cozzoli, the General Secretary of the European Network of American Alumni Associations, Massimo Cugusi, and Michele Ricceri, coordinator at Chapter Fiorentino. The Award Amerigo comes in ten categories and recognizes the work developed by journalists who have distinguished themselves in recounting American reality in the last year, in all mediums of communication.
