The Buonaparte in Tuscany A story in episodes, here is the first one
A strong bond between the Buonaparte and Tuscany, and with Florence in particular, was that with Paolina and Carolina, the second and third sisters of the Emperor, but not so much for their birth, in fact they were born in Ajaccio, respectively in 1780 and 1782, instead their bond relates to their death, in 1825 and 1839, and for the second sister also for being buried here. The life of Paolina, her big brother’s favorite, constitutes an authentic romance and her beauty was immortalized by the sculptor Antonio Canova.
