The Italian Memorial of Auschwitz has arrived in Florence Honorary citizenship granted to Tatiana and Andra Bucci on Memorial Day
The City Council of Florence, gathered in a formal meeting in the Salone dei Cinquecento to grant honorary citizenship to Tatiana and Andra Bucci on Memorial Day. Born in Rijeka in a Jew-Catholic mixed family, they were confined at the age of 4 and 6 years old first in Risiera di San Sabba and later in the extermination camps of Auschwitz, serial numbers 76484 and 76489, where they remained from March 1944 until January 1945. Last March the National Council of ANED issued an appeal to save the Italian Memorial for Block 21 of Auschwitz, rightfully not wanting to give up on a monument of such high historical and moral value and let it be removed or overshadowed.
