Games help dogs in their intellectual growth and stimulate them to better understand the environment in which they live, understand how things work, learn basic rules of conduct and how to control their strength, developing skills and agility, such as, reacting appropriately to stimulus. Games also help them with socialization: playing with us or with other dogs, they develop different skills.

By playing with other dogs they develop physical strength and a hunting instinct within the pack, while playing with us they develop cooperation and intelligence, just as we like it. In both cases, dogs learn respect for others, as they release energy and relax, hence not accumulating stress and anxiety, which also means that our dogs will not be aggressive. One big advantage of this is the strengthening of the relationship between the dog and his master. The ideal game for dogs does not exist! It really depends on the breed and their abilities. Some dogs are more predisposed to certain activities due to their breed characteristics, but they all have fun with all kinds of games.
These are some activities that might please your friend:
“Hunting” games: Even if it is not a specific breed for hunting, dogs like to sniff and follow things. Hunting can be done in any area, big or small, by casting out a toy or even small, healthy treats / snacks.
“Go and get it” game: is the most common one, throwing a ball or simply a piece of wood and making sure that the dog goes pick it up and bring it back to you. It is for sure one of the most fun games and it also helps stimulate the dog’s instincts.
“Frisbee” game: best done at sea or in an open field, the dog must run in order to catch the disk launched by the master. It is an activity that helps develop their attention and speed of execution.
“Agility” game: it requires training and attention. These are activities in which the dog is committed to jumping, going through previously determined routes or following commands learnt from the master.
Lastly, one of the most important activities to do with our four-legged friends is a: Walk with socialization! During the walk the dog has the opportunity to put into practice its most primitive instinct: the pack. Walks also teach about the diversity and the noises of the city or the park, so by knowing these factors, the dog will feel safer and more connected with its own nature. This is important for dogs and will help reduce stress and relax them. We can, therefore, make a small list of the benefits of spending time with our four-legged friend:

Il gioco aiuta il cane nella crescita intellettuale e lo stimola a comprendere meglio l’ambiente in cui vive, a conoscere il funzionamento delle cose, imparare regole basiche di comportamento ed a controllare la sua forza, sviluppando abilità e destrezza, come per esempio, reagire adeguatamente agli stimoli. Il gioco li aiuta anche nella socializzazione: giocando con noi o con altri cagnolini, sviluppano differenti abilità. Il gioco con gli altri cani fa sì che sviluppino forza fisica e istinto di caccia da branco, mentre giocando con noi sviluppano cooperazione e intelligenza, proprio come piace a noi. In entrambi i casi, i cani imparano il rispetto per gli altri, liberano energia e si rilassano, non accumulano stress ed ansia e questo fa sì che i nostri cagnolini non siano aggressivi. Uno dei grandi vantaggi di tutto ciò è il rafforzamento del rapporto fra il cane ed il suo padrone. Il gioco ideale per i cani non esiste! Dipende molto dalla razza e dalla loro abilità. Alcuni cani sono più predisposti a certe attività per le loro caratteristiche di razza, ma comunque tutti si divertono con ogni tipo di gioco possibile.
Queste sono alcune attività che potrebbero piacere al vostro amico:
Giochi “di caccia”: anche se non si tratta di una razza specifica per la caccia, ai cani piace annusare e seguire le cose. La caccia può essere fatta in qualsiasi tipo di terreno, grande o piccolo, cacciando un gioco o anche dei piccoli e sani bocconcini/snack.
Gioco di “andare e prendere”: è quello più comune, lanciando una pallina o semplicemente un pezzo di legno e fare sì che il cane vada a prenderlo e ce lo riporti. Di sicuro è uno dei giochi più divertenti ed aiuta anche a stimolare i suoi istinti.
Gioco del “frisbee”: da fare al mare o in un campo aperto, il cane deve correre a prendere il disco lanciato dal padrone. È un’attività che aiuta a sviluppare la sua attenzione e velocità d’esecuzione.
Gioco di “agilità”: richiede addestramento ed attenzione. Si tratta di attività in cui il cane si impegna a saltare, a fare dei percorsi previamente determinati o mettere in pratica i comandi che ha imparato dal padrone.
Per ultima, una delle attività più importanti da fare con i nostri amici a quattro zampe: la Passeggiata con socializzazione! Con la passeggiata il cane ha l’opportunità di realizzare quello che condiziona i suoi istinti più primitivi: il branco. Le passeggiate aiutano anche a conoscere la diversità ed i rumori della città e dei parchi, così conoscendo questi fattori il cane si sentirà più sicuro e connesso con la propria natura. Questo è importante per lui e lo aiuterà a ridurre stress ed a rilassarsi. Possiamo quindi fare un piccolo elenco di quello che si può ottenere con il passare del tempo assieme al nostro amico a quattro zampe:
