Florence is known to be one of the most vibrant Italian cities during the summer due to its open-air arts, nightlife and lively cultural scene. One of the most popular summer attractions in Florence is Spiaggia sull’Arno (Beach along the Arno River), located in Piazza Giuseppe Poggi. This yearly arranged sandy beach is the perfect location for both tourists and Florentines to linger in the sun, have a cool drink, meet friends and enjoy the evening events. The beach is open every day between 10 am and 1, 30 am and one can also browse to discover the upcoming events.

The city also hosts several “cool” events this summer such as FASHION: Vintage Selection at Stazione Leopolda between the 3rd and 5th of July; ART: Thursdays at Palazzo Strozzi, Musical Concerts & Workshops in the courtyard of the palace between 7,30 pm and 10 pm; FOOD & POOL TIME: Pizza & Champagne nights at Grand Hotel Villa Cora, every Wednesday and Sunday starting 7,30 pm it’s BBQ nights for 55 euros. Another great option to stay away from the midday heat is to stroll and picnic on the shady paths of Villa Demidoff, otherwise known as Pratolino Park, a beautiful location reachable with the 25A bus from Piazza San Marco. Whether you are just visiting Florence or you are one of its residents, the city’s terraces are always ready to serve minted drinks and delicious gelato, while in the evenings you can stroll the narrow streets and choose, from the many locations available in the center’s piazzas, where to have a great aperitivo.
