Galileo Museum in Florence

The Galileo Museum is located in the ancient Castellani Palace, in Piazza dei Giudici 1, next to the Uffizi and facing the river Arno. It is since 1930 the headquarters of the Institute and Museum of the History of Science.

Its extraordinary collections include ancient scientific instruments dating from the XI to XIX centuries, including all the original Galileo instruments.

The exhibition path is divided into three core parts. The first presents the tools collected by the Medici; the second is about the items subsequently collected by the Grand Duke of Lorraine, while the third concerns the interactive section.

The Galileo Museum offers a rich program of activities for schools and families, with various types of guided tours and teaching workshops, offered in Italian, English and French. QR Codes are available for introductions in Chinese. The aim is to provide a sound educational experience in which play is a key step in learning through the use of replicas of scientific instruments.
