Helidon Xhixha In ordine sparso

Prosegue fino al 29 ottobre 2017 a Firenze la mostra di Helidon Xhixha “In Ordine Sparso”, curata da Eike Schmidt, Direttore delle Gallerie degli Uffizi, e dal critico d’arte Diego Giolitti. Quindici sculture e installazioni monumentali, molte inedite e create dall’artista per la mostra fiorentina, sono collocate tra il Giardino di Boboli, Palazzo Pitti, le Gallerie degli Uffizi e Piazza San Firenze, uno straordinario e affascinante percorso attraverso il quale l’artista conduce la propria ricerca “filosofica” esplorando i concetti di caos e ordine e rendendo omaggio al modo in cui questi due elementi sono stati elaborati nei secoli, nella filosofia così come nelle arti e nel mondo naturale.

Eike Schmidt afferma che un elemento ricorrente dei lavori di Xhixha, è che le sue opere riescono a parlare a tutti, aspetto importante e singolare questo poiché, come prosegue il Direttore degli Uffizi, “è raro che la scultura sia riuscita ad attirare l’attenzione allo stesso tempo di ragazzi e adulti, che invece spesso esaminano a lungo le opere di Xhixha e in genere ricorrono agli smartphone per catturare la propria immagine insieme a quelle che si riverberano sull’acciaio”. Una delle sue opere più famose è certamente “Iceberg” che, dedicata al tema del cambiamento climatico ed esposta proprio durante la Biennale di Venezia del 2015, emergeva possente dall’acqua del Canal Grande e da allora divenne famosa in tutto il mondo.

Helidon Xhixha è nato in Albania ma vive e lavora tra Milano e Dubai. Ha intrapreso il suo percorso artistico ancora giovanissimo ed ha riscosso fin da subito un grande successo: le sue riconoscibili opere monumentali, che traggono ispirazione da importanti temi sociali ed esistenziali, le sue imponenti architetture realizzate e plasmate in acciaio inossidabile lucidato a specchio, oggi fanno parte d’importanti collezioni pubbliche e private. La partecipazione alle Biennale di Venezia, alla Biennale del Design di Londra, i riconoscimenti che ha ricevuto in tutto il mondo, gli conferiscono indubbiamente una posizione di prestigio nel panorama artistico internazionale, nell’ambito della scultura contemporanea.

The exhibition of Helidon Xhixha “At Random” (“In Ordine Sparso”), curated by Eike Schmidt, Director of the Uffizi Galleries, and art critic Diego Giolitti, runs until October 29th, 2017 in Florence. Fifteen sculptures and monumental installations, many of them unseen before and created by the artist for the Florentine exhibition, are located between the Boboli Gardens, Palazzo Pitti, the Uffizi Galleries and Piazza San Firenze, an extraordinary and fascinating journey through which the artist leads his “philosophical” research by exploring the concepts of chaos and order and paying homage to the way these two elements have been elaborated over the centuries, in philosophy as well as in the arts and the natural world.

Eike Schmidt states that a recurring element of Xhixha’s works is that they can speak to everyone, and this is important and unique because, as the Uffizi Director continues, “it is rare for sculpture to be able to attract the attention of the young and adults at the same time, who often contemplate Xhixha’s works for a long time, while generally, they use smartphones to capture their image along with those that reverberate on steel”.

One of his most famous works is certainly “Iceberg” which, devoted to the topic of climate change and exhibited during the Venice Biennale in 2015, emerged powerfully from the water of the Grand Canal and had since become famous all over the world. Helidon Xhixha was born in Albania but lives and works between Milan and Dubai. He has embarked on his artistic career since he was very young and has since achieved great success: his known monumental works, inspired by important social and existential themes, his impressive architectures realized and molded in mirror-polished stainless steel, today are part of important public and private collections. His participation at the Venice Biennale, at the London Design Biennale, the awards he has received worldwide, undoubtedly gives him a prestigious position in the international art scene, in the contemporary sculpture context.
