Pochi anni fa sarebbe stato impensabile, eppure Firenze si appresta a diventare una delle capitali del rock. La ragione è semplice: è stato individuato uno spazio che permette di realizzare concerti di grandi dimensioni, di quelli da ascoltare ad alto volume.

È l’Ippodromo del Visarno che, per l’occasione, diventa Visarno Arena e si appresta a ospitare la seconda edizione di Firenze Rocks dal 14 al 18 giugno 2018. Nel 2017 sul palco sono saliti i Radiohead, Placebo, Aerosmith, Eddie Vedder, System of a Down con ben 212.000 spettatori di cui 23.000 stranieri, e la prossima rassegna si appresta ospitare altri mostri sacri del rock: il 14 giugno ci saranno i Foo Fighters, il 15 giugno sarà la volta dei Guns N’Roses, il 16 giugno gli Iron Maiden e il 17 giugno Ozzy Osbourne. Questi sono i protagonisti dell’evento e saranno tutti preceduti da almeno due artisti (ricordiamo per il momento che gli Avenged Sevenfold e Judas Priest si esibiranno prima di Ozzy Osbourne) per serate che si preannunciano affollate dagli appassionati del genere. Ad esempio, per il concerto di Guns N’ Roses non si trovano già più i biglietti sui canali on line.

In Toscana c’è un altro polo di attrazione per il Rock, ovvero Lucca con il suo Summer Festival che quest’anno ha già annunciato ospiti di grande fama. A partire da Roger Waters: a soli tre mesi dai sei concerti, già sold out, in programma ad aprile nei palasport di Milano e Bologna, l’ex Pink Floyd torna in Italia. Lo fa però con una rappresentazione molto diversa, una produzione imponente e spettacolare dal titolo “Us and Them” finora messa in scena solo a Città del Messico e allo storico Desert Trip Festival lo scorso anno e che il musicista ha deciso dopo una lunga attesa di portare anche in Europa. Delle tre città del vecchio continente in cui questo spettacolo andrà in scena ben due sono italiane. A Londra che ospiterà il concerto ad Hyde Park si aggiungono infatti Lucca (11 luglio) e Roma.

Per quanto riguarda la città toscana, lo scenario sarà quello delle mura storiche che lo scorso anno videro l’esibizione dei Rolling Stones. La serata si aggiunge a quelle che si tengono nella cornice tradizionale di Piazza Napoleone. A partire da quella dell’ex Beatles Ringo Starr con la sua All Starr Band, che non suonava in Europa dal 2011 e che sarà a Lucca l’8 luglio. Tra gli altri big sono stati annunciati anche Hollywood Vampires (7 luglio) gruppo formato da Alice Cooper, Joe Perry (Aerosmith) e Johnny Depp nel 2015; una super band, oltre che per il carisma di Alice Cooper anche per la notorietà dell’attore americano. I King Crimson, altra formazione di richiamo, in particolare per gli appassionati del progressive rock, saranno a Lucca il 25 luglio. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds tornano il 17 luglio a distanza di cinque anni che hanno visto l’uscita di un docufilm sull’artista australiano, ma soprattutto l’ultimo album Skeleton Tree. Infine il concerto di Lenny Kravitz, autore, produttore e multi-strumentista che ha vinto quattro Grammy Awards consecutivi oltre a stabilire il record per maggior numero di vittorie nella categoria “Miglior performance vocale rock maschile”, che è previsto il 18 luglio. Tutto questo in attesa anche di altri nomi che da qui all’inizio dell’estate potrebbero essere annunciati in tutta la Toscana.

The most anticipated concerts scheduled in Florence… and not only

A few years ago it would have been unthinkable, but Florence is about to become one of the capitals of Rock. The reason is simple: a space that allows to create large concerts was identified, concerts made to be listened at full volume.

The space is the Hippodrome of Visarno that, on the occasion, becomes the Visarno Arena and it’s preparing to host the second edition of Florence Rocks from June 14th to June 18th, 2018. In 2017 the stage welcomed Radiohead, Placebo, Aerosmith, Eddie Vedder, System of a Down with as many as 212,000 spectators including 23,000 foreigners, and the next event is about to accommodate other legends of rock: on the 14th of June the Foo Fighters will take the stage, on June 15th will be the turn of Guns N’Roses, June 16th Iron Maiden and June 17th Ozzy Osbourne. These are the protagonists of the event, and will all be preceded by at least two artists (for now we will only remind that the Avenged Sevenfold and Judas Priest will perform before Ozzy Osbourne) for evenings that promise to be crowded by fans of the genre. For example, for the Guns N’Roses concert, tickets can no longer be found on online channels.

In Tuscany there is another attraction for Rock, and that is Lucca with its Summer Festival which this year has already announced famous guests. Starting with Roger Waters: in just three months, the tickets for the six planned concerts are already sold out, scheduled to perform in April on the arenas in Milan and Bologna, the former Pink Floyd member will be back in Italy. However he will be present with a very different representation, an imposing and spectacular production entitled “Us and Them” staged only in Mexico City so far, and it was at the historic Desert Trip Festival last year, that the musician decided, after a long wait, to bring it to Europe. From the three cities of the old continent where this show will came to life on stage, two of them are Italian. London, where a concert will be hosted in Hyde Park, will be joined by Lucca (11th July) and Rome.

As for the Tuscan city, the scenario will be that of the historic walls, which last year witnessed the performance of the Rolling Stones. The evening adds to those that take place in the traditional setting of Piazza Napoleone. From the former Beatles member, Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band, who hasn’t played in Europe since 2011, and will be in Lucca on the 8th of July. Among other big names the Hollywood Vampires were also announced (July 7th) a group formed by Alice Cooper, Joe Perry (Aerosmith) and Johnny Depp in 2015; a super band, famous for the charisma of Alice Cooper as well as for the American actor’s fame. The King Crimson, another renowned band, especially for progressive rock fans will be in Lucca on the 25th of July. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds return on July 17th after five years since the release of a documentary film about the Australian artist, but especially since their last album Skeleton Tree. Finally the concert of Lenny Kravitz, author, producer and multi-instrumentalist who has won four consecutive Grammy Awards in addition to the record for most wins in the category “Best male rock vocal performance”, which is expected on July 18th. All this while waiting for other names to be announced early in the summer all throughout Tuscany.
