In un’intervista rilasciata ad una giornalista cino-americana e poi ripresa dalla rivista Venews (www.venezianews.it) l’artista Sun Liangang descrive con rara lungimiranza un futuro che è ormai dietro l’angolo e che ancora non vogliamo considerare realisticamente. “Noi siamo abituati a pensare all’arte come qualcosa che si fa. Io vorrei che l’arte fosse essenzialmente qualcosa che si pensa”. In futuro, sfruttando le possibilità tecnologiche e l’intelligenza artificiale, l’arte forse non sarà più formale ma “coscienziale”. “Non stiamo parlando di visioni, di future astrazioni: questa trasformazione è in pieno atto, sta già accadendo in questo momento, che ce ne rendiamo conto oppure no è indifferente. Ci sono tante cose che non sappiamo ma questo non significa che non accadano. Il futuro mi entusiasma”.

Sinteticamente ho voluto riprendere il pensiero e la filosofia di Sun Liangang, artista che a Firenze abbiamo avuto già avuto modo di conoscere fin dal 2012, anno della sua prima mostra italiana, per introdurre il suo nuovo ciclo di opere, ora in esposizione alla Galleria Via dei Fossi fino al 30 giugno 2018, dopo la lunga permanenza a Venezia l’anno scorso, in occasione della Biennale d’Arte. Le nuove opere sono ora ancor più liberate da ogni formalismo, e mettono maggiormente in contatto con l’essenzialità dell’esistenza, spogliandola di ogni superficialità. Avvicinarsi all’opera artistica di Sun Liangang richiede di entrare nella sua visione esistenziale e filosofica di un mondo governato da una profonda armonia. È una ricerca di estrema sintesi e interiorità, in fusione con la natura. Un messaggio positivo per dare una svolta a un mondo che va verso la sua rovina e che deve dunque essere riportato alla sua naturale grandiosa bellezza e integrità, quindi a un’improcrastinabile rinascita: “Nirvana Re-Birth”. “Più sono pure e libere le mie idee, più sarò in una posizione favorevole per creare arte che è pensiero puro”.

Sun Liangang – Nirvana Re-Birth

In an interview with a Chinese-American journalist published by the magazine Venews (www.venezianews.it), artist Sun Liangang seldom describes a future that is just around the corner, and which we don’t want to realistically consider. “We’re used to think of art as something that we do. I wish art could essentially become something that we think.” In the future, taking advantage of technological possibilities and AI, art may go from being a formal representation but a “consciential” one. “We’re not speaking of visions or of future abstractions: this transformation is already in motion, it’s happening now, and whether we acknowledge it or not is irrelevant. There are many things we don’t know, but this doesn’t mean that that they don’t happen. The future fills me with enthusiasm”.

I summarised the mind-set and philosophy of Sun Liangang, an artist that we’ve already learned to appreciated in Florence since 2012, when he held his first Italian exhibit, in order to introduce his new line of works, which are now on display at the Galleria Via dei Fossi until June 30th 2018, after being on display in Venice for a long time last year, in the occasion of the Art Biennale. The new works are freer from any kind of formality and establish a greater contact with the essentiality of existence, stripping it from all frivolity. To approach Sun Liangang’s artworks, one must first enter in his existential and philosophical vision of a world governed by a deep harmony. It’s a research of extreme synthesis and interiority, merged with nature. A positive message to change a world that is going towards its ruin and, therefore, must return to its natural magnificent beauty and integrity, hence to a critical rebirth: “Nirvana Re-Birth.” “The more pure and free my ideas are, the more I will be in a favourable position to create art that is pure thought”.
