Ci sono storie che meritano di essere raccontate. Come quella di Daniela Hobjilă che, a 18 anni, lo scorso 1° giugno ha vinto la sua prima medaglia d’oro individuale nella specialità corpo libero al campionato nazionale Uisp di ginnastica ritmica.

Daniela è nata in Romania nel 2000 e a cinque anni è arrivata a Firenze con la sua famiglia. “Sono cittadina rumena ma mi trovo bene qui in Italia – racconta Daniela – anche se all’inizio non è stato facile. Credo che con il rispetto e l’educazione, gli scambi fra diverse culture aiutino a crescere e a maturare”. A sette anni Daniela ha iniziato a frequentare i corsi di ginnastica ritmica presso la ASD Campo Marte spinta dal suo maestro delle elementari, a cui dedica questa medaglia. Lei avrebbe voluto fare basket ma fin dalla prima lezione si è appassionata a questo sport per cui le insegnati intravedevano grandi capacità. Alla fine del primo anno Daniela vinse la Coppa Assessore e da allora non ha più smesso di vincere sia a livello regionale che nazionale.

Nei campionati nazionali in squadra nel 2012 è arrivata terza nella specialità quattro palle e nel 2014 seconda nel corpo libero. Ma la medaglia d’oro vinta pochi giorni fa è solo sua. “Finalmente dopo undici anni sono riuscita ad arrivare sul gradino più alto – prosegue Daniela – quando me l’hanno detto non ci credevo. Sono rimasta ferma a fissare il vuoto mentre le mie insegnanti gioivano per il risultato”. Ma poi una volta sul podio con la medaglia al collo, sentendo l’inno italiano che suonava per lei, ha realizzato quello che stava succedendo. “Ero fiera di me – continua – perché questi risultati ripagano dell’impegno e dei sacrifici che si fanno tutto l’anno. Fiera perché grazie al mio lavoro di insegnante ho acquisito una maggiore fiducia in me stessa e a gestire le emozioni. Fiera di gareggiare per l’Italia anche se sono rumena. Perché questo Paese è comunque nel mio cuore”.

Al suo ritorno è stata festeggiata dai suoi genitori, ancora increduli di questo bel risultato, dai suoi amici, dai compagni di scuola e dagli insegnati dell’Istituto Elsa Morante. Daniela studia, insegna ginnastica ritmica alle bambine di quattro e otto anni, non rinuncia alle uscite con gli amici e ad andare talvolta allo stadio per tifare la Fiorentina. Ma il suo sogno è quello di lavorare come insegnante di ginnastica ritmica in Romania. “Una volta terminata la scuola voglio fare dei corsi per diventare insegnante – conclude Daniela – e spero di tornare nel mio Paese per trasmettere la mia esperienza alle future ginnaste”. Daniela Hobjilă. A gold medallist for Italy… and for Florence

There are stories that deserve to be told, like the one of Daniela Hobjilă, who, at the age of 18, won her first individual gold medal in the floor exercise specialty at the Uisp national championships of rhythmic gymnastics last June.

Daniela was born in Romania in 2000 and at five years old she arrived in Florence together with her family. “I’m a Romanian citizen, but I enjoy living in Italy – said Daniela – even if in the beginning it wasn’t easy. I believe that through respect and education, cultural exchanges help us improve and mature”. At seven years old Daniela started to take part at the rhythmic gymnastic courses offered at ASD Campo Marte, encouraged by her elementary school teacher, to whom she dedicated this achievement. She wanted to play basketball, but ever since her first lesson she was passionate about this sport, and her teachers saw great potential in her.

At the end of the first year, Daniela won the Coppa Assessore, and since then she hasn’t stopped winning both on a regional and national level. In the national team championships of 2012, she placed third in the four balls specialty, and then in 2014 she arrived in second place in the floor exercise. But the gold medal she won a few days ago is hers, and only hers. “Finally, after eleven years, I was able to reach the highest spot on the podium – Daniela added – When they told me the result, I was in disbelief. I just started into nothing, while my teachers were celebrating”. Then, once on the podium, with the medal around her neck and hearing the Italian anthem play for her, she realised what was going on. “I was proud of myself because these results repay the commitment and sacrifices of the whole year. I was proud because, thanks to my work as a teacher, I gained a greater confidence in myself and learned how to manage my emotions. I was proud to be competing for Italy, even if I’m Romanian, because this country is in my heart”.

Upon her return, her parents, who still couldn’t believe the result, her friends, her schoolmates and her teachers at the Elsa Morante Institute, all celebrated her. Daniela studies, teaches rhythmic gymnastics to four and eight-year-old girls, she conducts a social life with her friends and sometimes goes to the stadium to support Fiorentina. But her dream is to one day become a rhythmic gymnastics teacher in Romania. “Once I finish school, I want to take some courses and become a teacher – Daniela concluded – and I hope I will be able to return to my country and transmit my experience to future gymnasts”.
