La Croce Rossa Italiana di Firenze è in prima linea per l’Emergenza Ucraina

In merito all’Emergenza Ucraina la Croce Rossa Italiana non ha fatto alcun appello di donazione per beni materiali, ad eccezione dei farmaci. Questi sono, infatti, una risorsa fondamentale per la gestione della crisi umanitaria nelle zone di guerra e sono anche uno dei pochi prodotti che ha senso trasportare per 2.000 km, per averli in pronto uso. Abbiamo attivato da subito la Campagna “UN FARMACO PER L’UCRAINA”, per donare farmaci e dispositivi medici alla popolazione ucraina. A Firenze sono già circa 100 le farmacie che hanno aderito, grazie all’accordo siglato tra la Croce Rossa Italiana di Firenze e i Farmacisti volontari della protezione civile, con il patrocinio dell’Ordine dei farmacisti e il supporto di Federfarma Firenze. I cittadini e le farmacie possono donare scegliendo da un elenco di farmaci e materiali sanitari concordato con la Croce Rossa Ucraina; saranno poi i farmacisti volontari a riorganizzare i prodotti e catalogarli prima di essere ritirati dalla Croce Rossa e inviati sugli scenari di guerra, garantendone la conservazione e la cura in tutti i passaggi del trasporto. Per evitare sprechi, il suggerimento è donare esclusivamente quanto indicato nell’elenco presente nelle farmacie aderenti: medicinali di primo soccorso senza obbligo di ricetta, garze, disinfettanti, guanti e molto altro.

Con l’intensificarsi delle ostilità, alla fine di febbraio, sono aumentati i bisogni della popolazione ucraina e centinaia di migliaia di persone sono state costrette ad abbandonare le proprie case, in cerca di ripari più sicuri; oltre un milione di persone sono fuggite nei paesi vicini, soprattutto in Polonia, Moldavia, Romania, Ungheria, Slovacchia e Bielorussia. Inoltre, per aiutare la popolazione di Kiev, la Città di Firenze e il Comitato fiorentino della Croce Rossa Italiana hanno lanciato anche una raccolta fondi per sostenere le necessità più urgenti dei cittadini. Kiev e Firenze sono città gemellate dai tempi del sindaco Piero Bargellini che il 27 luglio 1967, a Kiev, firmò il patto di amicizia. Un aiuto diretto e senza intermediari è il miglior modo per sostenere concretamente la popolazione: Croce Rossa, infatti, durante le emergenze internazionali, mette in moto il suo sistema di network per poter agire capillarmente, forti della possibilità di operare grazie alle convenzioni di Ginevra che garantiscono l’accesso a mezzi e operatori di Croce Rossa anche durante i conflitti armati. The Italian Red Cross in Florence is in the frontline for the emergency in Ukraine

With regards to the emergency in Ukraine, the Italian Red Cross did not call for the donation of material goods, except for pharmaceuticals. These are in fact a fundamental resource for the management of humanitarian crises in war zones and are also one of the few products that can travel over 2,000 km and still be ready for use. Thus, we immediately activated the Campaign “UN FARMACO PER L’UCRAINA” (“MEDICATIONS FOR UKRAINE”), to donate medicines and medical devices to the Ukrainian people. In Florence, already 100 pharmacies have joined the initiative, thanks to the agreements signed between the Italian Red Cross in Florence and the voluntary pharmacists of the civil protection, with the patronage of the Order of Pharmacists and the support of Federfarma Florence. Citizens and pharmacies can donate by choosing from a list of pharmaceuticals and sanitary materials agreed upon with the Ukrainian Red Cross; the pharmacist volunteers will then reorganise products and inventory them before they are picked up by the Red Cross and shipped to war zones, while also guaranteeing the conservation and care during all transport and logistics. To avoid waste, it is recommended to strictly donate what is present in the lists at participating pharmacies: non-prescription first aid medications, gauzes, disinfectants, gloves, and more. With the intensifying of hostilities at the end of last February, there has been an increase in the needs of the Ukrainian population, and hundreds of thousands of people were forced to abandon their homes, as they sought safer shelters; over three million people have fled to neighbouring countries, namely Poland, Moldova, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Belarus. To finance the activities and support civilians struck by the conflict, by bringing them food, water, electricity and sanitary assistance, the Annullo Filatelico Ucraina has also been activated (for information: collezionisticrocerossa@gmail.com). Moreover, to help the population of Kiev, the City of Florence and the Florentine Committee of the Italian Red Cross have launched a series of fundraisers to attend to the citizens’ most urgent needs. Kiev and Florence are twinned cities since the years of mayor Piero Bargellini, who on July 27, 1967, signed the friendship pact in Kiev. Direct assistance – with no intermediaries – is the best way to concretely support the population: in fact, during international emergencies, the Red Cross activates its network to act in a capillary manner, strong of the possibility to operate thanks to the Geneva convention, which ensures access to Red Cross vehicles and operators even during armed conflict.
