Il festival del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino è il più antico festival lirico d’Europa con quellodi Bayreuth e Salisburgo. Il festival nasce nel 1933 con ambizioni così grandi da dare il suonome all’istituzione musicale fiorentina di maggiore importanza, rappresentata nell’Orchestradel Maggio Musicale Fiorentino diretta da Daniele Gatti. L’edizione LXXXIV del festivallirico e sinfonico fiorentino si terrà dal 12 aprile al 16 luglio 2022, eccone laprogrammazione.

Il festival comincia con l’opera lirica Orphée et Eurydice di Gluck il 12 aprile alle ore 20:00,diretto da Daniele Gatti alla Sala Zubin Mehta. Lo spettacolo sarà ripetuto quattro volte: il 13,19 e 21 aprile alle ore 20:00 e il 23 aprile alle ore 17:00.

Inoltre, il 27 aprile, la Sala Zubin Mehta ospita anche la messa in scena di Romeo e Juliette di Charles Gounod, diretto da Henrik Nanasi con regia di Frederic Wake-Walker, per un totale di cinque recite che finiscono il 10 maggio.

Dal 7 al 15 maggio, l’opera Le nozze di Figaro, uno dei tre capolavori realizzati da Mozart, al Teatro della Pergola.

Il 25 maggio, per cinque recite che finiscono il 3 giugno, il pubblico è invitato a una produzione di I due Foscari di Giuseppe Verdi alla Sala Zubin Mehta. Lo spettacolo è diretto da Carlo Rizzi con regia di Grischa Asagaroff. Il personaggio di Jacopo è interpretato dalla voce di Jonathan Tetelman e il ruolo di Francesco Foscari da Plácido Domingo.

Dal 7 al 18 giugno, il Teatro della Pergola presenta Ariadne auf Naxos di Richard Strauss, diretto da Daniele Gatti con regia di Matthias Hartmann, con cinque riprese. Il ruolo di Ariadne è interpretato da Krassimira Stoyanova e quello di Zerbinetta da Jessica Pratt.

Il 14 giugno si terrà un evento singolare intitolato La cupola armonica, per celebrare i 600 anni della cupola di Brunelleschi alla Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore, con composizioni di Guillaume Dufay, Heinrich Isaac, Francesco Corteccia, Cristofano Malvezzi, Emilio de' Cavalieri e Marco da Gagliano.

Dal 4 all’11 luglio, all’Auditorium, Acis et Galatée, l’ultimo lavoro compiuto di Jean- Baptiste Lully.

Il 7 luglio, il maestro Manfred Honeck presenta Coriolan, ouverture in do minore op. 62, Meeresstille und glückliche Fahrt (Calma di mare e viaggio felice), op. 112
e Fantasia Corale in do minore op. 80 per pianoforte, soli, coro e orchestra
di Ludwig van Beethoven, seguiti da Elektra Suit di Richard Strauss. L’appuntamento è alle ore 20:00 all’Auditorium.

Per concludere la stagione, il maestro Zubin Mehta dirigerà l’orchestra che suonerà Die Geschöpfe des Prometheus (Le creature di Prometeo), ouverture ed estratti di Ludwig van Beethoven seguita da Variazioni su un tema rococò per violoncello e orchestra op. 33 e Sinfonia n. 4 in fa minore op. 36 di Pëtr Il'ič Čajkovskij.

A Florentine Musical May: from April 12 th to July 16 th , 2022

The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, or A Florentine Musical May, festival is the oldest opera festival in Europe with that of Bayreuth and Salzburg. The festival started in 1933 with ambitions so big that it gave its name to the most important Florentine musical institution, represented in the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Orchestra conducted by Daniele Gatti. The LXXXIV edition of the Florentine opera and symphonic festival will be held from April 12 th to July 16 th , 2022. Here is the program.

The festival begins with Gluck's opera Orphée et Eurydice on April 12 th at 8 pm, conducted by Daniele Gatti at the Sala Zubin Mehta. The show will be repeated four times: on the April 13 th , 19 th and 21 st at 8 pm and on April 23d at 5 pm.

In addition, on April 27 th , the Zubin Mehta Hall also hosts the staging of Romeo and Juliette by Charles Gounod, directed by Henrik Nanasi and Frederic Wake-Walker, for a total of five performances ending on May 10 th .

From May 7 th to May 15 th , the opera The Marriage of Figaro, one of the three masterpieces created by Mozart, will be on at the Pergola Theatre.

On May 25 th , for five performances ending on June 3d, the public is invited to a production of I due Foscari by Giuseppe Verdi at the Sala Zubin Mehta. On July 7 th , Maestro Manfred Honeck presents Coriolan, overture in C minor op. 62, Meeresstille und glückliche Fahrt (Calm of the sea and happy journey), op. 112 and Choral Fantasy in C minor op. 80 for piano, solos, choir, and orchestra
by Ludwig van Beethoven, followed by Elektra Suit by Richard Strauss. The appointment is at 8 pm in the Auditorium.

To conclude the season, maestro Zubin Mehta will conduct the orchestra that will play Die Geschöpfe des Prometheus (The creatures of Prometheus), overtures and extracts by Ludwig van Beethoven followed by Variations on a Rococo theme for cello and orchestra op. 33 and Symphony n. 4 in F minor op. 36 by Pëtr Il'ič Tchaikovsky.
