Dal 5 al 6 novembre, il Comune di Firenze invita il pubblico alla Fiera delle Arti Tessili, anche nota come la Fiera dei Pastori o la Fiera della Lana in passato. Quest’anno, il luogo scelto per pubblico e imprenditori è la magnifica piazza di Santa Croce, uno dei cuori di stimolo, creatività e invenzione della città di Firenze. Ricordo che piazza Santa Croce fu l’ispirazione di De Chirico, e che nel suo essere rappresenta la storia di Firenze, da Dante gli anni presenti, di grande importanza.

L’associazione Fierucola, in collaborazione con tessitori e cultori del tessile indipendenti, hanno lavorato insieme negli ultimi mesi per dare più visibilità all’evento, e per creare un programma preciso, ricco e variegato di contenuto. Il programma del fine settimana del 5 e 6 novembre, quando ha luogo l’evento, è il seguente.

Sabato 5 novembre, la mostra del mercato delle Arti Tessili comincia alle ore 9:00 e finisce alle 19:00. Il medesimo giorno, dalle ore 10:30 alle 12:30, e successivamente dalle 15:30 alle 18:30, è possibile partecipare al laboratorio per ragazzi, il quale è focalizzato sulla tessitura piana su telaio di cartone con filati variegati. Alle 11:00 è possibile attendere ‘il cerchio delle filatrici’, una dimostrazione di come si fila la lana da varie esperte.

Il pomeriggio di sabato si inaugura con un evento speciale dalle ore 14:00 alle 15:00: Laura dell’Erba invita il pubblico al laboratorio d’Indaco ed Ecoprint per adulti, nel quale spiega i funzionamenti di tecniche di tintura naturale. Dalle 15:00 alle 15:30, Elena Villa tiene una breve conferenza sulla pianta tintoria più famosa della nostra esistenza, non più in uso adesso. Elena Villa discute le ricchezze, l’uso, la coltivazione, l’ascesa e il declino della pianta, tra altri temi.

La domenica 6 novembre il programma della giornata offre altrettanto eccitanti incontri. Come il sabato, dalle ore 9:00 alle ore 19:00 è possibile visitare la mostra sul mercato delle Arti Tessili. Dalle ore 10:30 alle 12:30, e dalle 15:30 alle 18:00, mantenendo gli stessi orari, due workshop diversi sono proposti al pubblico: “mostrilli al telatio”. In associazione con Intrecci Condivisi, questo è un laboratorio per ragazzi di tessitura piana su telaio di cartone. Alle ore 11 si ripete ‘il cerchio delle filatrici’, proseguito con la presentazione del chimico Antonio Mauro, esperto in lane, il quale spiega le qualità dei filati naturali dalle 14:00 alle 14:30.

Dalle ore 14:00 alle ore 15:00, la breve presentazione di Laura dell’Erba ripete lo stesso laboratorio che sabato sui segreti della tintura naturale. Infine, dalle ore 15:00 alle 16:00, Maurizio Savoldo, maestro tintore, propone un laboratorio per bambini accessibile su prenotazione (un massimo di 15 bambini), sull’esperienza di tintura.

Florence: Textile Arts Fair

From November 5th to 6th, the City of Florence invites the public to the Textile Arts Fair, also known as the Shepherds’ Fair or the Wool Fair in the past. This year’s location, chosen by the public and entrepreneurs, is the magnificent Piazza di Santa Croce, one of the hearts of the stimulation, creativity and invention of the city of Florence. Remember that Piazza Santa Croce was the inspiration focus of De Chirico, and that in its being, it represents the history of Florence, from Dante to the present years, remaining of great importance.

The association Fierucola, in collaboration with weavers and independent textile lovers, have worked together in recent months to give more visibility to the event, and to create a precise program, rich of varied content. The program of the weekend of November 5th and 6th, when the event takes place, is as follows.

Saturday, November 5th, the exhibition of the Textile Arts market begins at 9:00 and ends at 19:00. The same day, from 10:30 to 12:30, and then from 15:30 to 18:30, you can participate in the workshop for children, which is focused on flat weaving on a cardboard frame with variegated yarns. At 11:00 you can wait for ‘the circle of the spinners’, a demonstration of how the wool is spun by various experts.

Saturday afternoon opens with a special event from 14:00 to 15:00: Laura dell’Erba invites the public to the laboratory of Indigo and Ecoprint for adults, in which she explains the workings of natural dyeing techniques. From 15:00 to 15:30, Elena Villa holds a short lecture on the most famous dry cleaning plant of our existence, no longer in use now. Elena Villa discusses the riches, use, cultivation, rise and decline of the plant, among other themes.

On Sunday, November 6, the program of the day offers equally exciting meetings. As on Saturday, from 9:00 to 19:00 you can visit the exhibition on the market of Textile Arts. From 10:30 to 12:30, and from 15:30 to 18:00, keeping the same hours, two different workshops are proposed to the public: “monstrances to telatio”. In association with Interlaced Shared, this is a workshop for boys of flat weaving on cardboard loom. At 11 o’clock the ‘circle of spinners’ is repeated, followed by the presentation of the chemist Antonio Mauro, an expert in wool, who explains the qualities of natural yarns from 14:00 to 14:30.

From 14:00 to 15:00, the brief presentation of Laura dell’Erba repeats the same workshop that Saturday on the secrets of natural dyeing. Finally, from 15:00 to 16:00, Maurizio Savoldo, master dyer, offers a workshop for children accessible by appointment (a maximum of 15 children), on the dyeing experience.
