PAOLO PENKO & FAMILY

In cinema, every detail plays a vital role in creating the allure that transports viewers into another dimension. This is particularly true for Conclave, the latest film by Academy Award-winning director Edward Berger. Featuring an exceptional cast that includes Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, Isabella Rossellini, and Sergio Castellitto, the production has already captivated audiences in the United States, and is set to enchant Italian viewers when it premieres on December 19th. It stands out not only for its cinematic content but also for its meticulous attention to detail, especially the jewellery crafted by the Paolo Penko Bottega Orafa. “We are proud to have contributed to this film with our creations, crafting over 530 unique pieces, including cardinal crosses, rings, and cufflinks”, affirms Penko. “We worked closely with costume designer Lisy Christl, whose vision guided the creative process, ensuring that the jewellery seamlessly blended with the costumes while also enhancing the characters’ traits and enriching the overall atmosphere of the film. The jewellery serves not just as an accessory but as a true narrative tool, capable of conveying the story and personality of each character. The entire creation process was handcrafted, honouring traditional techniques that give each piece a unique and authentic aura. The techniques used include lost-wax casting, openwork, engraving, and penkato.”
