There are three Italian titles running for the Leone d’Oro in the 72nd edition of the Venice Film Festival that opened its door on September 2nd with 55 feature films and 16 short films, selected from more than 3193 viewed works. Our competitors are Marco Bellocchio (Sangue del mio sangue), Giuseppe Gaudino (Per amor vostro), Luca Guadagnino (A bigger splash) and newcomer Piero Messina (L’attesa); they are all presenting different films and international actors, deputies to represent the presence of the tricolor in the competition that boasts 21 titles, a few more than in the previous years.

Da fedele abitué del Festival di Cannes e dopo il successo di Father and Son, che si aggiudicò il Premio della Giuria nel 2013, il regista nipponico Hirokazu Kore-Eda ha fatto ritorno in kermesse per presentare il film Our Little Sister, dalla graphic novel Umimachi Diary, che esplora con pacata dolcezza l’universo femminile di quattro giovani donne.

On the centenary of her birth, Ingrid Bergman becomes the official image of the 68th Cannes Film Festival, scheduled on the Croisette from May 13 to May 20. Very beautiful, serene and full of the success, the actress loved by Rossellini, Hitchcock and Ingmar Bergman, replaces Marcello Mastroianni, whose face was on the poster for the last edition of the Festival. This will be a tribute paid to this modern icon of the cinematographic world, a free woman and audacious actress, a figurehead of the new realism. She was part of the Hollywood star system, constantly adapting herself to countless interpretations and adoptive countries, without ever losing sight of her grace and simplicity for excellence. To Cannes, Bergman was president of the Jury in the 1973.

Protagonista la splendida Margherita Buy, fedele compagna di viaggio e tra le attrici feticcio del regista romano d’adozione. Margherita è una regista. Sta girando un film sulla precarietà del mondo del lavoro che ha come protagonista un eccentrico e stizzoso attore americano. Ma Margherita ha anche una madre ricoverata in ospedale, che assiste assieme a Giovanni, il “fratello perfetto” che sembra sempre un passo innanzi a lei.
