Il “Drachenboot Cup Ost” che si è svolto a Vienna è stato un importante test per la squadra fiorentina delle Florence Dragon Lady, la squadra di dragon boat composta da donne operate di tumore al seno della sezione di Firenze della Lega Italiana Lotta contro i Tumori LILT, in collaborazione con il servizio “Donna come Prima” e dei Canottieri Comunali di Firenze.

Numerose squadre rosa sono nate in tutti i continenti in questi dieci anni, molte squadre partecipano alle regate internazionali ed ai raduni locali, diffondendo un messaggio di speranza e gioia di vivere, sottolineando la forza delle donne.

Un appuntamento importante in vista del Festival Internazionale IBCPC delle Donne in Rosa che si svolge ogni quattro anni e che nel 2018 si terrà proprio a Firenze nel Parco delle Cascine e per il quale si prevede l’arrivo in città di oltre 4.000 persone fra atlete, accompagnatori  e addetti ai lavori da ogni parte del mondo. Grande evento a Vienna, infatti non solo le Florence Dragon Lady sono arrivate prime, ma hanno portato il movimento delle Donne in Rosa anche in Austria, emozionando partecipanti e spettatori delle gare, rompendo il ghiaccio con un mondo all’inizio diffidente verso questa disciplina sportiva che per le sue caratteristiche di aggregazione di squadra viene applicato fin dal 1996 come riabilitazione psico-fisica dopo il tumore al seno.

Per la prima volta nella “Drachenboot Cup Ost” viennese è stata inserita la categoria “Donne in Rosa”, e la partecipazione italiana al festival austriaco è stata massiccia: 115 donne in rappresentanza di ben 11 squadre italiane. Oltre alla squadra fiorentina erano presenti le Astro Dragon Lady Empoli, Donna Più Latina, Dragonette Avigliana, Dragonette Torino, Ilrosacheosa Roma, Pagaie Rosa Roma, Pink Amazon Milano, Pink Karalis Cagliari, Trifoglio Rosa Mestre, UGO Unite Gareggiamo Ovunque Padova. La sfida sulla distanza sprint di 250 metri sulle acque del Danubio, un fiume rosa, tutte insieme, a partire dall’equipaggio di casa, le Vienna Pink Dragons. Centinaia di maglie rosa hanno animato il campo di gara e incuriosito il pubblico, trasmettendo un messaggio di forza e coraggio come solo le Donne in Rosa sanno fare. La Cerimonia dei Fiori a conclusione della manifestazione, in ricordo delle amiche che hanno ceduto alla battaglia contro il tumore, ha emozionato tutti, e si è chiusa con il lancio delle gerbere color fucsia nel Danubio.

II risultati sportivi sono stati di tutto rispetto. La sfida finale fra Donne in Rosa è stata entusiasmante con un testa a testa fra le 6 imbarcazioni in gara. L’equipaggio misto Florence Dragon Lady LILT e Donna Più LILT Latina sono tornate a casa con il trofeo del primo posto.

Florence’s Dragon Lady LILT conquer Vienna

The “Drachenboot Cup Ost” that took place in Vienna was an important test for the Florentine team of Florence Dragon Lady, the team of dragon boats composed of women who underwent surgeries for breast cancer tumors in the Florence section of the Lega Italiana Lotta contro i Tumori LILT, in collaboration with the service “Donna come prima” and the Canottieri of Firenze.

For the first time in the Viennese “Drachenboot Cup Ost” the “Women in Pink” category was added, and the Italian participation at the Austrian festival was massive: 115 women representing 11 Italian teams. Hundreds of pink jersey animated the race field and intrigued the audiences, sending a message of strength and courage as only “Donne in Rosa” know how to do. The Flower Ceremony at the end of the event, in memory of the friends who lost the battle against the tumor, all excited, and closed with the launch of the fuchsia colored gerberas in the Danube.

The sporting results were worthy of respect. The final challenge between “Donne in Rosa” was thrilling with one head to head between the six racing boats. The mixed crew of “Florence Dragon Lady LILT” and “Donna Più LILT Latina” returned home with the first place trophy.
